Welcome, and thank you so much for being here.
If you'd LOVE to find the courage to start a business, become healthier, change careers or realise any dream... you're in the right place!
From high school drop out to successful entrepreneur living a life I never imagined possible, I'm now sharing everything I've learned, and am still learning, in the hope that it may inspire others.
My life has had many twists and turns, as I'm sure yours has. Learning to build a tenacious self and follow my passions, has been what has made the biggest difference in my life.
I'm deeply passionate about helping others. In both my blog, and my first book I've recently written, If Not Now, When? (to be published in Summer 2020-21), I'm digging deep to face my biggest fear of sharing my inner truths, and realising my biggest dream.
Before we go on, I'd like you to ponder this question: What have you've always wanted?
Over the last two years I've also been on a health and well-being journey, losing a total of 15kg (then regaining 5) and this is an ongoing focus for me.
I'm also a crazy creative who loves writing, colour, texture and most of all, helping others. Over at my business Upcycled & Co. I have my own brand of furniture paint and teach my unique furniture painting techniques in my video tutorials and workshops.
Having created a life I never imagined possible, my mission is to help you get to where you want to be.
After leaving school at the age of 15 without any qualifications, I started my first job (that my father helped me get); it was filling cream donuts, making filled rolls and serving in a bakery.
The following year I took a polytechnic course on Reception Duties and moved into my first corporate role. From here I went on to spend more than 20 years in corporate in Executive Support, Administration Management, Training and Copywriting, as well as five years as an International Flight Attendant for Air New Zealand.
In 1998 I started my first business. I worked my butt off to get my children's affirmation cards into 38 retail stores around New Zealand. It was a success. HOWEVER at that time I didn't have enough knowledge or understanding of what it takes to grow a business. Ultimately I returned to the corporate world where I stayed for the next 15 years. I went from job to job, but never felt satisfied, I was merely putting a salary in my bank account each month. But, that served a purpose too.
Fast forward to 2006 when I 'fell' into freelance technical and copywriting after having an opportunity to work alongside a Project Manager in a corporate administrative role I held.
In 2013 I left the corporate world literally in a stressed heap. After taking some months out, I created The Business Writer, a copywriting business where I wrote website content for businesses, individuals and web developers. I went on to create business writing training programmes which I delivered to corporates and in one-on-one coaching sessions.
Next I started Upcycled & Co. in 2016 running furniture painting workshops, and in 2017 I launched my own furniture paint brand, Upcycled & Co. Furniture Paint. This business has been three years of long, long hours and incredibly hard work. However, now that I have formula that's working well, I spend around 15-20 hours a week running this business.
Starting this blog has been a long-held dream and something I've dabbled in for years. I'm sharing what I know about life and business in the hope that it may help others. During my time on this planet, and as a business owner, I have made a whole lot of mistakes, learned a whole lot of stuff, and now
I want to share it ALL.
I can't wait to start working with you!
