For many decades I spent my working life in the corporate world. I worked hard, learned many skills, got promoted, and received the financial rewards. And, I'm grateful for all of that.
What I didn't get was time to be with myself. What I didn't get was to be with like-minded people. What I didn't get was food for my soul.
Because I chose to be where I was.
Whether consciously or at times, subconsciously, I chose to work in the corporate world where I was comfortable, and it was an appropriate career to have.
But, when I discovered the world of personal development in 1987 when a beautiful soul I worked with at the time loaned me the book, You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. We commuted together for a couple of years before I moved on to become a Flight Attendant.
Since discovering the wonderful world of self-discovery through self-reflection, I have never let it go. Even though I've had many business and career changes, I have always come back to it.
When I do my personal work, I feel connected to myself. When I attend to my own soul, I feel a deep love for who I am. When I connect with like-minded souls, I feel alive.
You see, I could have had a career in the personal development field for the past 35 years, but I was afraid.
I was afraid I was not good enough. I was afraid I wouldn't get any clients. I was afraid I had nothing to offer.
Yes, the corporate life served me well, I met some amazing people (some I'm still friends with years later), and I have wonderful memories.
But, it wasn't what I wanted to be doing.
I did it because I was too scared to follow my dream. I did it because it was an acceptable option. I did it because I thought it would give me a sense of belonging.
Let me ask you this, what are you currently doing in your life that you really don't want to be doing?
