When Holding On Is Hurting You

Choosing to let go of habits, people, and situations that no longer serve me has been, and continues to be, a vital part of my journey.

For decades I was a person who put other people's feelings ahead of my own. I ruminated over how someone else would feel if I let them go. I put my own feelings and self, second.

A recent experience has resulted in moving on from a close relationship of around seven years.

It's been difficult.

I tried again.

I held on.

But it wasn't comfortable.

There were disrespectful behaviours towards me and for me, the trust was gone.

What I've learned through this experience is that holding on meant I could avoid the grief of losing the friendship. If I held on, if I tried one more time, I wouldn't have to face and feel the sadness that is now here.

As I move into the next stage of my life I'm learning that...

I will no longer put others first.

I will no longer tolerate disrespect.

What I must do is value and respect my own soul.

So... I let go with love.

I’d love to hear your stories of letting go.

With love,

Kathryn x
