The 3 Surprising Secrets to My Weight Loss Success


Losing weight can be a lifelong journey, but each time you embark on it, you can learn more about yourself and what works for you. This time around, for me, it's all about trusting myself. I've learned to let go of the guilt that comes with indulging in my favourite foods and instead focus on getting back on track. In this blog post, I want to share with you the three things that are helping me on my weight loss journey right now.


1. An accountability partner

One of the best things I did was find an accountability partner. Two years ago, I met a wonderful woman in a US-based weight loss Facebook group. We struck up a conversation, and I discovered that she was also from New Zealand. We decided to become accountability partners, and it's been a game-changer. We report in with each other every day about our weight, exercise, and anything else we want to share. Having someone who understands what you're going through and can encourage you along the way is incredibly helpful.


2. Weighing myself every day

How often to weigh yourself is something that is often debated. To my surprise, I have discovered that weighing myself every day works best for me. By weighing myself each morning, I can catch any slight upward trend in my weight and adjust my eating and exercise accordingly. It helps me stay on track and motivated.


3. Allowing myself to have daily treats

This one might surprise you, but allowing myself to have daily treats has been a game-changer. By planning a treat each day, I find that I no longer want to binge on sweets as much as I used to. Each morning, I have two or three pieces of Whittakers 92% chocolate with a cup of decaf coffee. Planning another treat during the week, whether it be a piece of my favourite carrot cake, scone, or doughnut, gives me something to look forward to and keeps me motivated and on track.


As I continue on this journey of weight loss and better health, I'm learning more about my body, mind, and soul. I'm discovering what foods and exercise work best for me and what I need to do to stay motivated. It's a fascinating process, particularly the self-discovery aspect.


If you're on a weight loss journey, don't be afraid to trust yourself. Allow yourself to indulge in treats, find an accountability partner, and weigh yourself daily. These three things have helped me tremendously, and I hope they can help you too. Remember, losing weight is a journey, and there's no one-size-fits-all solution. But by listening to your body and finding what works for you, you can achieve your goals and live a healthier life.
