The Choice Is Yours... Courage or Fear?

One thing that consistently shows up when I'm challenging myself to do something new, and that something, is fear. Every single time, I feel apprehensive to some degree. So, what is the answer?

Each time, I dig deep to find the courage that is already inside of me. How do I know it's there? Because I've proven it to myself time and time again over the years, but self-sabotage can kick-in and lead me off track. Getting this blog restarted has caused me a certain amount of fear. I know there are people who would like to silence me due to the fact that I share my thoughts and feelings, but I will no longer allow this to stop me. Because I'm passionate about sharing my life experiences in the hope that they may help someone else move through a difficult time or inspire them to make a change they've long desired. For me, it takes courage to share my thoughts and feelings, but it's something I love to do. As I navigate this journey, I listen to my inner talk, and I pay close attention to which parts of this come from my frightened inner child. We all have many parts to us including every age we have ever been. Often our old negative or fearful thoughts will arise when we are taking on a new challenge. When this happens, it is our job to conduct a dialogue with the part of ourselves that is potentially holding us back. Conducting your own inner dialogue is a simple process we can do either in a written form or in our heads. Here's a quick example: Adult: I'd like to go kayaking this summer. Child: But what if something goes wrong and you get into trouble out there. Adult: I won't be taking any risks. I'll be sticking close to the shore until I get more experienced and I'll definitely be wearing a life jacket and not going alone. Child: Okay, that sounds good then. It might be fun. Adult: I'm sure it will be fun. In this quick example you can see that it doesn't need to be a long-winded conversation, however if it needs to be, that's okay too. As you work through this process you will feel within you when you get to a place of peace and calm around the fear. How is fear holding you back? What would you love to do? I'd love to know. Tell me in the comments. With love,
